And speaking of cutting, in this clip we get to hear a bit from photographer Austin Young, who's known for pushing his work beyond the established parameters. The Silver Lake Film Festival includes Austin's own foray into film, and is one of the myriad "Anti-Hollywood" events that won't be covered by E! or Us Weekly...and that's just the way we like it!

Sure, this "City of Smog and Stardust" has its pejorative cliches: salon-tanned bimbo blondes and cut-throat talent agents, but there's also an astounding underground arts scene here that extends beyond 'indie music.'

When the pendulum swings one direction, there's always an opposite force to be reckoned with. This is the city where the "Lowbrow Art Scene" (a cluster of wildly talented individuals including Mark Ryden, Camille Rose Garcia, and Liz McGrath, among others) originated—sending jolts and gasps throughout the stodgy tried-and-true galleries within the insular art world...waving to the out-dated modes of thinking with a middle finger, and growing worldwide in popularity as we speak.

Moreover, this is the city where a neighborhood as cool as Silver Lake would curate an annual film festival that doesn't give two shits about Jerry Bruckheimer's latest blow-em-up-and-have-a-good-car-chase multi-million dollar motion picture. There are people who live and breathe true art here...and when you watch this second part of the "triumvirate," you'll meet a few of them.
