Just postin' a little "quickie" before I crawl into bed... Here's a series of me having fun with the mega-glam Malika Millions, taken at Power Up's swank awards ceremony/soirée honoring outstanding achievements among Lebian filmmakers. Natch, I had to give the booth some mileage with my dear friend Hilary Goldberg-- both my dapper date for the evening, as well as the director credited both on my imdb and Wikkity-Whackety-pedia pages as being the person who discovered me as an actor. I can't make up my mind whether to put quotation marks around the word discovered or the word actor, so I'm opting for neither. I discredit/poke fun at myself plenty of other places around the 'net, and have chosen to skip the self-deprecating B.S. for a change and leave it at this: It was a fun night; I'm grateful to have been among the attendees, and sometimes a post is just a post... Some of you might recall the collaborative book project I've been working on for some time now with my pal Amanda Brooks? Whelp, it's still happening... and here's an impromptu video clip made during our shoot for the photograph to accompany one of the stories. Actually, it'd be more precise if I said *half* the image, since we've imagined the end result for this visual narrative to be a collision of two moments: in one, a flash from when the character Maya was living the proverbial 'high life'—back when things were shimmering, warm and bright—superimposed over this, the second juncture of when life is pitched high...though in the opposite direction this time. The intended juxtaposition of the end result? To communicate the notion of what it's like when "the good times are killing [someone]." There has to be a glamour, an allure...without it, there's no balance for the places one ends up. The desperate, the grotesque. But gaaah, how my carpal tunnel is currently killing ME!
