Hipster Fashion "Do's and Don'ts" : My First Time Hangin' With Jayme on Altitude TV!

And you know the majority of these folks were thinking, 'THIS freak is asking me about What Not To Wear?'

So well, yeah...maybe the Jared Gold brooch was a slight bit ostentatious...

But wanna know the secret of it all?

I rock the look I do for no reason other than
it makes me happy.

Ain't no need to 'hate crime' me or over-analyze...

The sitch really is THAT simple:

It's fun, and I do it for me.

And this afternoon at the Silverlake Sunset Junction?

It was frickin' fun, indeed!

EVER HAD A QUESTION YOU'VE ASKED ME AND MY LAME ASS DIDN'T ANSWER?

Just So You Know,
You're Not Alone...

I do my best to keep up with comments/notes/queries sent through here or other locales I reside around the web, but there's only one of me (and I type slowwwwllllly.)

Fortunately, you can 'corner' me--on the air.  Eliza Cuts has a new on-line radio show, and I've agreed to be subjected to some serious 'grilling' this Tuesday night.  As in, June 17th... verrry soon, my pretties!

In fact, if you email your questions

to the address listed below,
YOU CAN DO SO ANONYMOUSLY.

(I thought for some of you, that might give an added incentive...?  'Cause baby, if she asks it, I know the girl ain't gonna let me get by with giving 'Dead Air.')

Ya naw mean?

Alright, here's Eliza's description of her latest undertaking:

"I have a radio show on Tuesdays from 7-10pm CENTRAL TIME for the next 6 weeks; then I move to Fridays from 7-10pm.... the show is called "This Deliberate Life.

" You can listen live on www. fearlessradio. com or if you miss the show you can check out the podcast on the site. We will take live callers and instant messages as well as emails.

You can email questions or topic ideas @ eliza@fearlessradio.com -- My producer will be sending me the emails, so nothing nasty, please.

The callers are live and you can ask whatever you want! On the show we will be talking about hair, makeup, music and all anything else of interest. Should be a smashing good time.

Please check it out this week! xo eliza"

Don't get me wrong -- I already have several In-Boxes full of email I (no doubt) look like an asshole for not responding.

But there's that "thrill seeker" part of me that wants to see what might get thrown at me out of left field, if you'll excuse the cliché.

Whatever the case,

I've Been Holding Back: Apprehensive to Post About This Life-Changing Event

As it's still so surreal and effing phenomenal
I can't help but fear that proverbial 'other stilleto' will drop.

But when my name was listed among the roster in Monday's artdaily coverage,

It allayed some of my (admittedly) superstitious fears.

I'm easing into the adrenaline rush, allowing myself to get swept up in the reality that

Two days from now I'll be boarding a plane to head to Pittsburgh,

as

Saturday evening, May 3rd

I'M GOING TO BE IN THE ANDY WARHOL MUSEUM.

I don't mean just in the sense of my physical presence at this opening event:
an 8-year retrospective of glenn kaino's brain-meltingly brilliant photography and sculpture*...

WHAT I'M SAYIN' IS: ON THE WALL

SOUL CAPTURED BY KAINO'S 'BIG SHOT POLAROID'

AND BENEATH IT?  A 50 INCH MONITOR WITH ME PERFORMING
ONE OF MY 'SPOKEN WORD' PIECES VIA VIDEO CLIP
OVER...AND OVER...VIA ENDLESS REPEAT.

(Not really—but REALLY)

Hopefully the text is more legible here:

* (For anyone who's ever felt uncomfortable in his/her skin, kaino's 'graft' series should really peel back the ribs;
the creatures rougly stitched and dressed in the skin of other animals speak a visual language to the kindred
that needs not a single syllable, no vowels or consonants in place
to translate the lachrymose beauty—a desperation that never says whatever it takes; this
is how much I hate my body
.  Instead, it's mainlined:
    chambertombed)

Sleep-deprived/burnt-out/bananas from a deadline elsewhere, but

MORE.
SOON.

Seriously Deliriously Yours,
Clint

P.S.  IF YOU'RE IN OR NEAR THE PITTSBURGH AREA, HEAD OVER AND VIEW SOME STELLAR ART—AND OF COURSE, COME DO SOME "HELLOING" WITH US!

ALONG WITH AUDREY AND ME, OTHER BUZZMAKERS PRESENT WILL BE LINDA STRAWBERRY AND DIRK MAI ('FINGERS CROSSED').

A Peta Article, Skelanimals Campaign, Fred Segal...And ME?

Wow... The news today that I'm the 'featured blog topic' on Peta's LJ site came as a complete surprise! It's always a combo meal of the good mixed with the bad in my life, 'cause otherwise, everything at the moment is WAY all kinds of crazy...My "unanswered mail" at each of my various web addresses is now well into the triple digits, so PLEASE understand that at this juncture it's just not humanly possible to answer people as often as I wish I could... But for those of you whom might have an interest, here's the link where their kind words are posted: http://peta2-blog.livejournal.com and here the article is via my (far from adept, but better than nothing) screen shots: Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us MASSIVE THANKS TO Peta2, CINDY AND SKELANIMALS FOR INCLUDING ME IN THIS CAMPAIGN! Re: ME, THE GRAMMY'S and "BigShotLive.com"

Yes, I know my episode has been difficult to find. That's why I took down my blogs everywhere yesterday...there's only so many hundreds of confused/frustrated friends sending me missives until I lose my final strands of sanity.

Today's update re: my only somewhat embarrassing experience? Cut and paste this address (since uh, most of us know that "linking out" of most social networking sites rarely work anymore)...

http://www.bigshotlive.com/?item_id=8325&item_type=Video

This should take you to the "splash" page of the site. Type in your zip code and enter; then make sure you click "T.V. Host" among the categories.

If you have any luck-- or, rather, if *I* have any luck-- that's how you should be able to see my video. Regardless of how I've been edited (trust me: I got more than one "shout out"-- not to mention props from Chaka Kahn, interviews with Aretha Franklin, and other phenomenal footage that wasn't shown), I'm still grateful for the experience.

Clicking the green "thumbs up" in the lower left hand corner would be helpful... but hell, I've already asked a lot of you guys.

Thanks for your patience and support. And since I know some of you have now entered as contestants, I wanna encourage you to GO FOR IT! I'm sure the prizes will continue to be great-- if not better.

Plus, who doesn't want a freebie trip to Hollywood? ;)

MAKE IT HAPPEN, PEEPS!

Oh and, BOTH AUDREY AND MATTHEW HAVE COME IN REALLY, REALLLLY CLOSE EACH WEEK. IT'D BE COOL IF THEY ALSO WON-- Naw mean?

WONDER TRIPLET POWERS: ACTIVATE!

In Your Debt,

The 2008 Grammy's, Red Carpet Commentary, and... ME?

That'd be a HELL YEAH!

Obviously, this wasn't an everyday occurence, but rather my “win” for coming in first place in the category of “T.V. Host,” the first week of BigShotLive.com’s national talent search.

This little thing called the ‘internet’ that some managers, agents, and T.V. execs have scoffed about in terms of significance?

Well, I had a T.V. camera behind me, a “lipstick cam” beside me, and A-List celebrities speaking with me because of it.

My response to all the doubters and haters who’ve discouraged me for being too “left of center,” “too much,” “too pushy” or (inflected, of course, rife with sarcasm) “too hip”?

You’re right!

If it weren’t for your antiquated thinking, I wouldn’t be so damn hard-headed.

Plus there wouldn’t be tourists sites for me to recommend:

THE LA BREA TAR PITS, DINOSAURS.

This swishy, wildly-opinionated, flamboyantly-dressed (thank you, Jared Gold!) queer boy from a small town Sunday night interviewed everyone from Aretha Franklin--celebrated artist of the year—to John Mayer, from Chaka Kahn and Chris Brown to country crooner and shirtless pin-up hunk John Paisley, from Michelle Williams (as in: final line-up, Destiny’s Child: whose solo album drops this summer) who complimented me directly into the camera for doing a “great job” (though, TRUST: the first interview of the night was anything BUT the case) to Ben Silverman, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment (translation: my version of a rock star, as I’m a burgeoning writer/producer in T.V. land)…who turned and walked to me in the press line-up and said, “Dude, you’re a rock star.” He complimented my outfit, gave me an interview—after blowing off journalists from mainstream magazines (whose names I’d rather not mention, as they were surprisingly helpful and supportive)—and, I’ve gotta tell ya: having an executive producer as young and visionary as HE is give me props? An executive producer on “30 Days,” “The Office,” and “Ugly Betty” who was not only deemed an ‘iconoclast’ in 2007 by the Sundance Channel, but who’s also worked his way up the ranks on The Peacock by taking risks and staying true to himself?

In this city where the last two weeks of my life have been rife with some of both “the best and the worst”?

The timing couldn’t have been better.

Thanks to those of you who’ve stuck by me during my most manic, tempestuous of times. (I know; I know—there’ve been SO FEW!) ;) If it weren’t for you all, I would’ve packed my bags and left with my tail between my legs YEARS ago, I’m sure…

And if you feel otherwise?

Please:

I invite you to remove yourself from my friends' list now, and have a great life. I’d rather not expend the doubt, time, nor negative energy of my own to scour a list here-- or elsewhere-- and “cast anyone out.”

I’m interested in what’s going ON, and coming UP.

Again, thanks everyone… and if any of you choose to enter this on-going on-line competition?

I wish the very best of luck.

x o x
Clint

FEBRUARY 8, 2008: UPDATE

Regarding:

I STILL NEED YOUR VOTE AT:

www.bigshotlive.com

It takes a bit of effort at first...
but once you register (and deem yourself either a "fan"-- i.e., someone who'll just be voting-- or "talent" -- as in, if planning on uploading and entering the contest yourself) the first time, it's fairly easy from there on out.

PLEASE NOTE THIS VERY IMPORTANT RULE:
YOU CAN ONLY VOTE ONCE PER CONTESTANT, PER DAY!
IF YOU VOTE MORE THAN ONCE FOR THAT SAME CONTESTANT,
IT AUTOMATICALLY "CANCELS ITSELF OUT."

HOWEVER, JUST TO BE CLEAR:
YOU CAN VOTE FOR 72 DIFFERENT PEOPLE IN ONE DAY, IF YOU WANT...

BUT MORE THAN ONCE FOR ANY OF THOSE 72?
MAKES IT ALL FOR NAUGHT.

(And with all the effort we've put into our videos-- along with begging/bugging y'all to assist-- that'd be a mighty sad thing to happen, indeed...)

That being said,
ONCE YOU'RE IN THE SITE,
HERE'S HOW TO HELP "MAKE THE MAGIC HAPPEN..."

(insert sparkly-teethed smile around here)

To find me via the search option, I'm under "Clint Catalyst" in the category of T.V. Host.

There are seven different categories listed in a bar across the top.
(Starting with "Modeling" on Monday...)

ONCE YOU'VE "DOUBLE-CLICKED" AND ARE CERTAIN YOU'RE IN THE CORRECT CATEGORY,

THAT'S WHEN YOU CANWATCH ME HUMILIATE MYSELF IN MY SUBMISSION VIDEO.

WHEN IT ENDS?
*THEN* CLICK THE GREEN "THUMBS UP" SYMBOL.
(THAT'S WHEN YOUR VOTE ACTUALLY COUNTS FOR SOMETHING...)

If you're burning time at a day job,
or just puttin' on a bit of 'philanthropist':

It'd be cool if you were to  help out my friends
(whom I completely endorse, and hope you do too!):

"Audrey Kitching" is in the modeling category
and
"Matthew Lush" is listed under acting.
.

THIS IS A WEEKLY CONTEST, SO PLEASE FEEL FREE TO KEEP VOTES A-COMIN' FOR THE THREE OF US...

But insofar as the results from Week #1?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I CANNOT THANK Y'ALL ENOUGH! I'm stoked, and really, really, really grateful.

SHORT FILM SEEKS EVENT CURATORS/PROMOTERS/etc.!

Do you curate a festival?

Put together a monthly "screening party" in your home town?

Have an interest in providing a venue/outlet for a short 'art-house'/experimental film?

Host a reading series in a gallery or performance space where an 11 minute (at least I think that's the length...it's definitely under 15 minutes) black and white motion picture could be added to the roster?

Know of any showcase for experimental art in your area?

I'm trying to help find other places to screen Hilary Goldberg's excellent work of meta-fiction and modern noir

entitled

"In The Spotlight"

INTERESTED IN SERIOUS INQUIRIES FROM JUST ABOUT ANYONE, ANYWHERE... THOUGH OF PARTICULAR INTEREST ARE SCREENINGS IN THE UK (especially London!), FRANCE, GERMANY, BELGIUM, ITALY... AUSTRALIA, AND OF COURSE: CANADA ♥

I know this is a 'shot in the dark' -- but hey, that's what my life's been thus far!

Correspondence is welcome either through my personal site:

or through the filmmakers' site:

QUICK AND EASY FAVOR, PLEASE...

I know requests like this are annoying-- but since I've fulfilled them for so many bands/"picture buzzes"/model contests myself, I ask that you please help a hooker out over here!

All you have to do is:

1) Add www.myspace.com/bigshotlive as a friend, then

2) Leave a comment stating that you vote Clint for TV host,

Audrey Kitching for modeling.

(unless, of course, you're not a fan of both of us... then a comment on one person's behalf will suffice)

MANY OF YOU MAY BE ENTERING THIS CONTEST LATER AND END UP OUR COMPETITION, BUT THAT'S O.K.... ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU PLEASE DO THIS FORM OF "PRE-VOTING" NOW

Well, that...and forgive me for all the correspondence I've yet to answer.  I'm trying to catch up; I PROMISE

I PROMISE

I PROMISE!

Hey...I Scored A Page In The Current Ish of Instinct Magazine.

And I ain't mad about it!

Ain't mad about it at all. =]

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Here's how it looks on-line:

I want to extend supermegabuttloads of gratitude to Alex Cho, Robbie Daw, and the mag in general.

Press in the "Gay Men's Magazine With The Highest Readership" makes me feel all validated and shit... Seriously.

Particularly since last month's "Pop Quiz" was with Beth Ditto, whom I effing adore.

I'm being overtaken by a wave of exhaustion and am in dire need to catch some Zzzzzs, but I'm hitting the sheets with today having been pretty damn great. Got my mug shot by Dirk (a.k.a. "Fingers Crossed" Photography) and was able to visit with Lilian and Guinivere, then went with Pedro for vegan pad thai, followed by hooking up with Ali for a screening of "In The Spotlight" at the Egyptian. I heart that dang Hilary Goldberg, who--true to form--said such kind things during the Q & A, it almost made me forget that this WGA strike has me "broke as a joke"; yet regardless, I need to show more support at the picket line.

Whether your preference is for pleasant dreams or skull-splitting nightmares,

I bid thee farewell...
